Wheatgrass Juicers Are Wonderful

wheatgrass benefitsNot too long ago, wheat grass became a commonly heard phrase when it came to discussions of health.  Even today, many people have heard of wheat grass and the nutritional benefits it has to offer.  Wheat grass can be purchased at health food stores and some grocery stores as a juice for drinking, as tablets that are swallowed, or as a concentrated powder that is added to other foods.

However, there is a much easier and less expensive way to benefit from consuming wheat grass and that is to own a juicer that is capable of processing the wheat grass into its juice form.  Of course, the initial purchase price of the juicer may seem high, but it will more than pay for itself when used to make wheat grass juice and other nutrient rich juices from fruits and vegetables.  To decrease the cost even more, the owner of the juicer can grow their own wheat grass and vegetables instead of purchasing them at the store.

Wheat grass juicers are a wonderful addition to the small kitchen appliances in any home where there are members who are interested in reaping the benefits of drinking fresh wheat grass juice.

Wheat grass juice offers large amounts of vitamins A, B, C, and E as well amino acids.  Depending on the soil where the wheat grass is grown, it can contain high concentrations of minerals that could include magnesium, selenium, calcium, iron, sodium, potassium, zinc and trace minerals.  Wheat grass also contains a large amount of chlorophyll which is said to assist in cleaning the blood and helping to increase the supply of oxygen as well as regenerate the liver and detoxify it.  It is amazing to think that just a one ounce serving of wheat grass juice contains significant amounts of all of these things that your body needs in order to grow and maintain its health.

Wheat grass juice is also great for those people that choose to be vegetarians.  Wheat grass is a source of protein with no cholesterol or fat that conforms to a vegetarian based diet.  It is also a great source of Omega-3 alpha linolenic fatty acid.  Since Omega-3 can only be obtained from the green leaves of plants and the flesh of animals that eat the leaves, wheat grass is an additional source of this nutrient for those who follow a vegetarian diet and therefore do not consume the flesh of any animals, including the fish that eat Omega-3 rich seaweed and phytoplankton.

The best types of juicers to use for processing wheat grass are a single auger masticating juicers and twin screw press juicers.  A single auger masticating juicer is actually capable of breaking up the tough wheat grass fibers to release more of the beneficial nutrients and make them more easily absorbed by the body.  A twin screw press juicer, also called a triturating juicer, has two augers that mesh when they rotate and crush the wheat grass between them.  Of the two types of wheat grass juicers, the latter one is claimed to be able to extract the most juice.
